A Little Warmer, Sunny, Still Windy

You'll need those sunglasses for another couple days as Sunny, but windy weather persists with a slight warming trend day by day. High pressure remains stationed off to our southwest, keeping us in northwesterly flow. The pattern will amplify a bit through mid-week—the reason we’ll warm slightly as the high dictates the flow over us. It will begin to flatten out toward the end of the week which will cool us, but also take a notch or two out of the winds. By the weekend, it’s possible a weather system will sneak in from the northwest which could bring some rain to the region. Stay tuned to the forecast.

AIR QUALITY: Good

***GALE WARNING***
…for the near coastal waters from Point Pinos south to Point Piedras Blancas extended until 9PM Wednesday.

*Northwest winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and seas 8 to 13 ft.

*Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.

Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.

Tuesday: Sunny. Slightly warmer with highs in the 60s to upper 70s on the coast—warmest on the north side of the bay where downsloping winds will cause compressional warming—and upper 60s to upper 70s inland. Gusty northwesterly winds at times.

Overnight: Most inland locations will be clear, while coastal areas will see an increase of low clouds into sunrise. Mainly southern/ eastern portion of the bay. Patchy fog for low, damp areas. Winds will ease but remain breezy, gusty at times. Lows will be in the 40s, with mid to upper 30s for interior sheltered valleys.

Wednesday: A few morning clouds, then becoming sunny. Slightly warmer with highs in the 60s to upper 70s on the coast—once again warmest on the north side of the bay—and 70s to low 80s inland. Gusty northwesterly winds at times.

Extended: Winds will ease a bit on Thursday, but will still be gusty in the afternoon. Most areas will experience their warmest day of the week on Thursday before the weather starts to shift on Friday. Clouds will be on the increase late and may hang around the coast on Friday with cooler conditions expected. Rain is possible this weekend as a weather system passes through.
