Waiting For Change

Our warm & dry pattern will come to an end eventually, but we’ll squeeze out a couple more nice days beforehand. High pressure over the state will begin to weaken through mid-week with overall temperatures cooling slightly day to day. As the ridge weakens further toward the weekend, a weather system will then be open to reach the coast. It’s looking more and more likely that a cold front will pass through the Monterey Bay Area late in the day on Friday with unsettled weather related to the parent low pressure system Saturday & Sunday. Temperatures will cool significantly from what we’ve seen in recent days. There may also be a slight chance of thunderstorms this weekend.

AIR QUALITY: Good

Overnight: Mostly clear with low clouds/fog possible along the coast and in the valleys. Lows mainly in the 40s on the coast with mid 30s to low 40s inland.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a few low clouds near the coast and a couple of puffy cumulus clouds over the hills in the afternoon. High clouds will move in late. Seasonable on the coast with highs in the 60s and slightly warm inland with mainly upper 60s to mid 70s. Northwesterly onshore winds, becoming gusty for the valleys late in the day.

Thursday: Partly cloudy on the coast and mostly sunny inland. Slightly cooler with coastal highs in the upper 50s to upper 60s and 60s to low 70s inland. Breezy up-valley winds late in the day.

Extended: The cooling trend continues into the weekend with rain looking more and more likely late in the day Friday. Unsettled weather will then continue through the weekend with cool, showery weather. Onshore winds may be gusty at times.
