Cold Lows and Gusty Winds

ZACH WEATHER

The next three nights will see much colder temperatures, with lows in the upper 20s and low 30s. High Pressure will build in late-week and warm temperatures back up.

Monday: Chilly in the morning with lows in the 30s for most areas—20s in sheltered inland valleys. Mostly sunny, but cool with highs in the 50s. Gusty north-northwest winds continue.

***FREEZE WARNING***

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning from midnight tonight to 9am Tuesday. Locations include Southern Salinas Valley, Arroyo Seco, Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains, Los Padres National Forest, Mountains Of San Benito County And Interior Monterey County, Pinnacles National Park, Greenfield and King City.

-Subfreezing temperatures expected both Monday night and Tuesday night. Overnight lows forecast in the mid 20s.

-Freeze conditions can kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

-Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Overnight: Mostly clear, with cold conditions. Overnight lows will be in the 20s to low 30s for most inland spots with 30s on the coast. Frost and freezing conditions likely.

Tuesday: Another cool day with highs in the 50s for most. Mostly sunny.

Locations include Southern Salinas Valley, Arroyo Seco, Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains, Los Padres National Forest, Mountains Of San Benito County And Interior Monterey County, Pinnacles National Park, Greenfield and King City.

Extended: 
After another frosty, but slightly warmer morning on Wednesday, both lows and highs will slowly warm closer to normal and then above by the end of the week. The next chance of precipitation comes on Sunday, though, it looks like another cooler, dryer system at the moment.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for February 9th – 15th calls for the likelihood of BELOW normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
