Not an April Fools Joke… Starting the Month Warm & Sunny
High pressure builds in across the West Coast as we head into the first few days of April. Dry air will continues to push in, clearing remnant clouds from this morning. Temperatures will be above normal on Monday under mostly sunny skies—though there is a slight chance for a shower over the southeastern mountains. We’ll see even warmer readings on Tuesday! The warming trend then comes to a crashing halt on Wednesday as a dry cold front ushers in a much cooler air mass with a round of gusty northwesterly winds. We won’t be dry for long, however… see the extended forecast below.
AIR QUALITY: Good
Monday: Mostly sunny with cumulus buildup over the hills. There is a slight chance for a shower over the southeastern hills/mountains. Otherwise, warmer, with highs in the 60s on the coast and upper 60s to low 70s inland. Breezy westerly onshore winds around the rivermouths and into the valleys in the afternoon.
Overnight: Mostly clear with lows mainly in the 40s, a few low 50s near the coast and a couple upper 30s for sheltered valleys. Winds will be light.
Tuesday: Sunny and warmer. Highs in the mid 60s to low 70s on the coast and widespread 70s inland. Breezy westerly onshore winds around the rivermouths and into the valleys in the afternoon.
Extended: A dry cold front will move through on Wednesday, cooling us down and adding some clouds to the forecast, but we’ll remain dry at least for a while.. The low, moving down the coast will tap enough moisture to bring showers to the region Thursday/Friday. There will be some instability, so there will also be a slight chance of thunderstorms. Additionally, it will be cold enough for snow in the mountains. Snow levels are hard to pin at this moment, but it’s possible they’ll be as low as 3,000ft. Trailing systems could bring additional showers to the region into the weekend.
