A Cool-Down Is Coming

High pressure quickly moves east on Wednesday which will lead to cooling temperatures and an increase in coastal clouds. A couple of weak weather systems will then pass by in the coming days—one on Thursday and another on Sunday. No rain is expected, however, some coastal drizzle will be possible. Temperatures will remain close to normal through the weekend.

Overnight:  Low clouds/fog increasing on the coast and adjacent valleys, otherwise clear. Lows in the low to mid 50s across the area.

Wednesday: Cooler, with few clouds near the coast and scattered high clouds. Highs in the 60s-70s on the coast and 70s-80s inland. Breezy onshore winds in the afternoon.

Thursday: Widespread low clouds on the coast and inland valleys in the morning with patchy drizzle possible. Then, becoming partly cloudy with a few low clouds near the coast and a few high clouds. Seasonable to slightly warm with coastal highs in the 60s-70s and 70s-80s inland. Breezy at times, especially in the afternoon.

Extended:  In the wake of a weak weather system Friday, coastal areas will warm a touch while inland areas cool—temperatures will remain close to normal, however under mostly sunny skies. Northwesterly/onshore winds will pick up in the afternoon and could get gusty at times. Saturday will be similar to Friday, but on Sunday, some drizzle will be possible in the morning and you can expect increased low clouds. Some warming expected next week.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for May 6th-12th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
