Rain moves out, warmer temperatures on the way

The persistent area of low pressure that brought us days of clouds and rain is finally moving out of the area. After a few scattered showers early Friday morning, a drying/warming trend will begin.

High temperatures will be much more seasonable, but are not expected to be above normal until next week.

We can expect morning/evening low clouds for the coast and adjacent valleys. There are some indications high pressure may win out by mid-week, which would send temps above normal, but another weak system is also poised to drop down the coast later in the week, which would lead to cooler, cloudier conditions and perhaps the next chance of rain.

Friday: Partly cloudy after morning low clouds. Warmer, with coastal highs in the 60s, with 60s to low 70s inland. Breezy for inland valleys in the afternoon.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with fog forming in coastal valleys. Lows in the 40s to low 50s.

Saturday: Low clouds and fog on the coast and adjacent valleys in the morning, then mostly sunny. Still a bit cool on the coast with highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s, but warmer inland with mid 60s to mid 70s. Breezy for inland valleys in the afternoon.

Extended: Similar conditions will persist through Sunday and Monday with patchy low clouds on the coast and seasonable to slightly cool temps. Clouds will thin a bit into mid-week with slight warming for all areas. Watching for the next weak weather system toward the end of next week.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for April 17th-23rd calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
