County of Monterey reaches settlement in Laguna Seca Raceway lawsuit

MONTEREY, CALIF. (KION-TV)- The County of Monterey announced a settlement has been made in the Laguna Seca Raceway lawsuit, involving the Highway 68 Coalition vs. The County of Monterey.

According to The County of Monterey Department of Public Works, Facilities, and Parks and Friends of Laguna Seca (FLS), the settlement clarifies long-term plans for FLS to conduct a previously planned sound impact assessment at the track, and carry out appropriate sound mitigation measures.

Some of the other bullet points given by the county include:

  • Favorable agreement allows Friends of Laguna Seca (FLS) to continue its 2024 season
    and operations as planned.
  • FLS will begin crucial assessments, including a previously planned sound impact
    assessment, to make necessary improvements.
  • Agreement establishes Friends of Laguna Seca’s stewardship of the facility for 50 years.
