Daughter and wife remember King City shooting victim

KING CITY, Calif. (KION) - UPDATE ON MARCH 5, 2024 AT 7:02 PM- A King City family is in mourning on Tuesday night after 42-year-old Mario Guzman was killed in a shooting that took place on Sunday night.

His daughter, Emily Guzman is still waiting for her father to come home.

"I just want him to come home," Emily said. ""I wished he was going to come knocking at the door and telling me "let me in," I wanted him to come home."

His family said Mario left the table and went to get tacos. That is when choas unfolded.

"I left telling myself what if I just made something here?" Emily said. "What if I didn't make him go out and get us food?"

Emily is set to graduate from King City High School in May.

"It just hurts so much more that I was so close," Emily said. "He was so close to going to my graduation."

His wife, Andrea Carrasco is determined to keep going and stay strong for their daughters.

"Now it's my turn to live what's left of this life," Carrasco said. "Just me and my daughters and my daughters father will no longer be with us.

Andrea said her husband had no gang ties and was a hard-working man who worked at La Herne Factory in San Lucas.

The family is planning to send and bury Mario's body in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Mother remembers daughter who got shot at her birthday party in King City

UPDATE ON MARCH 4, 2024 AT 10:58 PM- A distraught mother, Felipa Ramirez, was dealing with a lot of emotions on Monday. Her daughter, Alicia Ramirez Aparicio, 32, was struck by gunfire and was taken to the hospital, where she was declared deceased.

Felipa is hoping police will track down whoever is responsible for her daughters death.

"I want there to be justice," said Ramirez. "I want there to be justice for what happened to my daughters, I want justice as soon as possible."

Ramirez said she was not there at the time of the shooting, and says her youngest daughter also got hit by gun fire, Carolina Ramirez Aparicio, of 26 yrs old. Mario Guzman's sister, one of the other victims who died, said he had went to the birthday party to buy tacos, and thats when he was shot .

His sister receiving the devastating news Monday morning.

"I had faith that he was going to be alive, but today at 10 a.m. they told he died." said Ermelinda Martinez.

Now all this family can do is hope police makes an arrest and that the rest of their family can recover. Felipa said her daughter Carolina is still in coma at Natividad hospital.

Doctors said she might not be able to work anymore.

Family members have identified the third victim in a shooting that took place in King City on Sunday evening.

Family members have identified the victim as Mario Guzman of King City. A relative said that Guzman leaves behind two daughters and a wife.

Family members said that Mario knew 32-year-old Alicia Ramirez Aparicio's husband because they worked together in San Lucas.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office confirmed that 42-year-old Mario Guzman of King City, 32-year-old Alicia Ramirez Aparico and 32-year-old man Olivo Perez Pina from King City.

The fourth victim is pending family notification per Sheriff's Office.

Family identifies two victims who were killed in King City shooting

UPDATE ON MARCH 4, 2024 AT 11:28 AM- A King City family is in mourning on Monday morning after two of their family members were shot and killed on Sunday night.

Felipa Ramirez told KION that her daughter who she identified as 32-year-old Alicia Ramírez Aparicio was killed on the 200 block of North Second Street.

Ramirez said Aparicio's husband's brother Francisco Aldape was also killed in the shooting as well.

Family members told our reporter at the scene that Alicia leaves behind four kids and her husband.

Ramirez said her daughter would have turned 33-years-old on Wednesday and worked at Mee Memorial King City Clinic.

Alicia's husband was also shot but has since been released from the hospital.

Felipa also told KION that her youngest daughter who is 26-years-old was also shot and is currently in a coma at Natividad Medical Center.

Family members tell KION that the two other men killed in the shooting were friends of Alicia's husband.
