Gonzalez and Habrik prepare for 3C2A Beach Volleyball Pairs Championship

MARINA, Calif. (KION) - Megan Gonzalez and Theresa Habrik will be representing Hartnell College at this year's 3C2A State Championships in beach volleyball.

The duo completed a dominant campaign on the sand, in which they finished with a regular season record of 19-2 overall. Gonzalez and Habrik also earned a Coast Conference title along the way. On Friday, Gonzalez and Habrik will head to West Valley College in Saratoga where they will look to carry that success into the tournament.

The beach volleyball program is in just its second year of existence and has already sent a pair to the championships in both seasons.

"For us to make it again just solidifies the idea that we are a legit program and we are putting in the work to make sure that we can achieve at a high level," Gonzalez said.

Megan is headed back to state for the second time in her career, while Theresa will make her first trip.

"To be there and to play there," Habrik said. "To show what junior colleges can really do and how high level they can play - it's great."

Pool play begins at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
