Parents concerned with recent inappropriate conduct with minor charges at Salinas Union High School District

“This is worrying me a lot, you know,” parent Maria Anya said. “I have my daughter. She's at La Paz too, and I have my son here.”

Anya is one of many parents concerned about their kid’s safety after learning of Julio Cesar Gonzalez Garcia’s arrest.

She says this isn’t the first time something like this has happened at North Salinas High School.

“This is the third time,” Anya said. “We had a PE Teacher, and now this one? No, that worries me a lot.”

We did confirm that this is at least the second time something similar has happened here within three years.

Communication is also an issue. Anya said she didn’t hear anything from La Paz or North Salinas High Schools.

“I found out about the arrest from Facebook,” Anya said. “They don’t even call us to let us know.”

All of these incidents happening in such a short time puts her in a tough predicament.

“What’s going through my mind is that I need to change my child's school or keep them home,” Anya said. “But I don’t want to keep them home, you know, but with these things going on, maybe I will keep them home.”

In a statement from both schools, they say that they are ready to support both students and parents at both schools. Right now, no further comments will be made.
