Watsonville man arrested after allegedly stabbing a nursing home staff member, officers say

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV)- Watsonville Police have arrested a 44-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a nursing home staff member on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers said they they received reports of a stabbing that took place on the 500 block of Auto Center Drive.

Investigators said the suspect who is identified as 44-year-old Kelvin Hernandez was visiting the center when he allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed a staff member. Officers found Hernandez with a knife and he was arrested.

Police said the staff member suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Hernandez was taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail on assault with a deadly weapon charge. The stabbing is still under investigation according to Watsonville Police.
