Warmer days begin Monday

A deep low pressure trough dug southward down the coast this weekend. The system produced light rain or sprinkles Sunday. Rainfall amounts ranged from trace amounts to .14” in Carmel Valley and .12” in Greenfield.

The system will also usher in colder air and gusty winds. Winds will eventually shift to offshore by Monday. The offshore flow will warm temperatures through midweek, before clouds increase ahead of another system that could produce more rain this coming weekend.

Sunday night:
Partly cloudy, cool, and breezy with rain chances diminishing overnight. Lows will be in the 30s to upper 40s.

Monday: Sunny and warmer, with highs in the mid 60s. North winds 5-15 mph in the afternoon.

Extended: Expect chilly temperatures on Monday morning with frost likely for inland valleys and patchy frost closer to the coast. Highs will be above normal, with most areas in the 60s. The rest of next week will be seasonable, with highs mainly in the 60s under mostly sunny skies.
