Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies arrest King City man with gun and drugs

KING CITY, CALIF. (KION-TV)- Monterey County Sheriff's deputies assigned in King City arrested one person during a traffic stop Monday night.

At around 7 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on the 1100 block on Broadway Street in King City. During the stop, officers conducted a search in the vehicle based on their observation of the driver, 29-year-old Israel Garcia Carrasco, and the inside of his vehicle.

During the search, deputies found a loaded and concealed firearm, 17 grams of packaged cocaine intended for sale, $11,000 cash, gang indicia, and a quarter pound of marijuana.

After taking Carrasco into custody, Monterey County Sheriff's Property Crime Unit and the arresting deputies obtained a search warrant for his home. During their search, officers found indicia of gun ownership and narcotics sales paraphernalia.

Carrasco was booked into the Monterey County Jail on a number of charges, including carrying a concealed firearm, prohibited person possessing firearm, and possession of controlled substance for sale.
