24-year-old man dead in Sieber Street shooting, police say

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- Salinas Police said that a 24-year-old man is dead after he was shot on Wednesday night.

Investigators said that they responded to the 1000 block of Sieber Street for a report of a medical emergency of a man down.

When officers got to the scene, they located 24-year-old Roman Angel Basurto who was found with a gunshot wound.

Police said that medical personnel attempted to save Basurto but he died from his injuries.

Investigators said that Basurto was in a parking lot of an apartment complex when he was shot and it is still unknown what happened before the shooting.

This is the third deadly shooting within the past week in Salinas. On December 30, a 33-year-old man was shot and killed on Garner Avenue and Atlantic Street.

On New Year's Eve, a 36-year-old man was shot and killed on Market Way and Soledad Street.
