Fatal crash north of Soquel kills one

UPDATE: October 25th, 8:07 AM- More information has come out on the fatal crash that killed one person north of Soquel.

According to CHP Santa Cruz, a 62 year old man from Aptos was driving a 2004 Chevy Silverado northbound on Soquel San Jose Road, just south of Los Robles Road at an unknown speed.

For reasons still not known, the Chevy veered off the road and collided with a raised asphalt curb before overturning. The truck continued to go in a northwestern direction when it collided with a metal chain linked fence.

Despite life saving efforts from officers when they arrived on scene, the man died on scene. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and it's unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.

ORIGINAL: A fatal crash near Soquel left at least one person dead Tuesday night.

It happened around 7:40pm on Soquel San Jose Road. Authorities found a vehicle in a ditch after the driver was possibly ejected from the vehicle. The crash forced a road closure for a few hours Tuesday night.

It is still an active investigation and will be updated as new information becomes available.
