Monterey Police arrest suspect with arrest warrant

MONTEREY, CALIF. (KION-TV)- Monterey Police and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a man with a warrant for his arrest and a loaded firearm.

At around 8:30 a.m. on April 12th, Monterey Police Officers and Agents from the U.S. Marshal's Service conducted surveillance on the 2200 block of Fremont Street. The reason for the surveillance was to find and apprehend a suspect with a $1.2 million warrant out for his arrest out of Manteca, California for human trafficking.

During the surveillance, officials found the suspect, 27-year-old Hakeem Mackey of Menlo Park, at a hotel in the 2200 block of Fremont. Mackey was then taken into custody. An investigation revealed Mackey was involved in human trafficking and was also carrying a loaded firearm at the time of his arrest.

Mackey was booked into the Monterey County Jail for the original arrest warrant and possession of a loaded, unregistered handgun. His bail for the new charges was set at $500,000.
