Pacific Grove City Council to vote on appointing Matt Mogensen to become next City Manager

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION-TV)- It has been nine months since the City of Pacific Grove has been without a city manager.

However, that could soon change on Wednesday night.

The Pacific Grove City Council will vote on potentially appointing Matthew Mogensen to become the next City Manager.

Currently, Mogensen is serving as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Marina. He has been in that role since 2018.

Prior to working in Marina, Mogensen served in a variety of roles in the City of Fountain Valley from 2008 to 2018.

An advanced copy of a council report shows that if approved, Mogensen would start his new role in Pacific Grove on May 6, 2024.

Morgensen would make an annual salary of $251,680 if his contract gets approved.

Pacific Grove has been without a city manager since July 2023 when Ben Harvey mutually parted ways with the City of Pacific Grove.

Robert Perrault has been serving as the interim City Manager since Nov. 2023.
