Alisal High School said student had a toy resembling a gun and emotional breakdown

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)-- Salinas Police said they are on the campus of Alisal High School because a student was caught with a toy resembling a gun.

Police are unsure how the student acquired the toy, or if they even brought it themselves.

Alisal High School said that the lockdown has been lifted.

A student was contacted by a teacher and given emotional support.

Good morning Parents,

We were notified that a student came on to campus and may have been in possession of a toy weapon.  We locked down the school as a precaution and located the student in question.  The student was not in possession of a weapon but did have a toy that resembled a gun.  The student was not threatening anyone but was in fact having an emotional breakdown.  The student was provided the support needed by the assigned teacher. We appreciate your understanding with this unfortunate situation for our students.
