CHP investigates deadly crash Monday afternoon in Watsonville

California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash at Mt. Madonna Rd. and Hazel Dell Rd., near Watsonville Monday afternoon.

Officers said a truck overturned just before noon with three men inside, two passengers had minor injuries but the driver was trapped and died on scene.

The men were driving to Watsonville for work when they said their brakes failed on the windy, steep road.

Officers said drugs or alcohol were not factors.
