Salinas police arrest two stolen car suspects after foot pursuit

Two men, accused of stealing a car on March 26, were arrested Monday afternoon after a brief foot pursuit, Salinas police said.

Officers said a friend of the victim reported seeing the stolen car on North Main Street near Alvin Drive in Salinas. Police said they located the driver, Elizar Uribe, 26, on Adams Street, where he abandoned the car and ran on foot.

Uribe was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail. He’s charged with driving a stolen car, resisting arrest and violation of probation.

Officers said they located Uribe’s passenger, Ismael Reymundo, 30, in a garage in the 1200 block of Polk Street. Reymundo was also arrested and booked into jail on charges of resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine and providing false information to a peace officer.
