Rain Chances Early This Week

ZACH WEATHER

A slow-moving area of low pressure will slide past to our south over the next few days. Occasional waves of rain will rotate around the low into our region, favoring the southern half of our viewing area. Rain is most likely on Tuesday, though a few showers may linger into Wednesday. High pressure will build in with warming temperatures through the end of the week. Then, a cold storm system will dive in from the north bringing a huge drop in temperatures and the potential for rain and mountain snow showers.

Tuesday: Waves of rain will move in from the south during the day, so southern areas are more likely to be cloudy and rainy… highs will be cooler there too, mainly in the 60s. From Monterey Bay, northward, expect more partly cloudy skies with warmer temperatures … highs in the 60s-70s, and isolated rain chances.

Overnight: Mostly cloudy with a few isolated showers possible. Expect lows in the 40s to 50s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy and cooler with isolated showers possible, mainly over the southern hills. Highs in the 60s.

Extended: Mostly sunny and warmer Thursday/Friday with high pressure and light offshore flow. Highs in the 60s-70s. Onshore flow will return late Friday into the weekend as a cold storm system approaches from the north. Highs are more likely in the 50s to low 60s this weekend with scattered rain showers and the chance for mountain snow.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for March 17th-23rd calls for the likelihood of BELOW temperatures and near normal precipitation.
