Phase Two of the Elkhorn-Werner-Salinas Roads Project to start on Monday

County of Monterey

ROYAL OAKS, Calif. (KION-TV)- The Monterey County Public Works, Facilities, and Parks Department will begin phase two of the Elkhorn Werner-Salinas Roads Project on Monday.

County officials say that this phase will significantly improve safety and efficiency at the intersection of Salinas Road and Fruitland Avenue. Construction will start on Monday morning and is expected to be completed by Friday May 19 depending on weather conditions.

Public works crews will be working on the road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the duration of construction. Drivers can expect some delays in the area as temporary traffic control measures, such as lane closures and flaggers will be in place.

Crews will be installing white flexible posts on the road that will help guide vehicles for a more efficient flow of traffic. They will also realign the existing stop limit line and bike lane across Fruitland Avenue to enhance sight visibility and access. Plus, crews will be removing existing striping and place new pavement markings.
