Wind, Showers, & Frost
Air Quality Report (As of 10:30AM)
All reporting stations are good to moderate.
The weather pattern remains unsettled through the weekend. Another system follows on Sunday with gusty winds and more light rain possible, but it will also keep temperatures chilly into early next week. In fact, we probably won’t see much of a temperature recovery through mid-week as northwest flow continues to push cool air into the region. As skies clear out, expect COLD mornings Monday – Wednesday which will likely mean frost for most inland valleys and could approach the coast. Temps will warm up slightly by the end of the week with another system possibly bringing rain by Friday/Saturday.

Expect northwest winds 20 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and seas 12 to 17 feet at 13 seconds.
Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
Mariners should alter plans to avoid hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe wind and seas.

Sunday: Partly cloudy, with isolated showers. Chilly, with gusty northwest winds at times. Highs mainly in the 50s to around 60ºF.

... in Monterey County, the Salinas Valley, Carmel Valley, 68 Corridor, Arroyo Seco, and San Antonio Valleys

Temperatures as low as 29 will result in frost formation.
Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
Extended: Expect mostly sunny skies for most of the week as the weather becomes more tranquil. However, as dryer air filters in behind this weekend’s storm system, low temperatures will drop into the 30s—with some inland valleys seeing 20s Monday through Wednesday. This will lead to some frosty mornings. It’s best to plan ahead if you have sensitive plants/crops. Temps will warm slightly by the end of the week (both at night and during the day) with a weather system possibly bringing rain/wind by Friday/Saturday.
