Warm End to the Week

Strong high pressure remains in control of the region on Friday with hot temperatures continuing inland. Coastal areas will begin to cool, however, as onshore flow strengthens. You can also expect the return of low clouds to the coast. The cooling trend will reach all areas as we head through the weekend with highs returning to normal and even below. A weather system will then roll through early next week and likely bring some light rain to the region.

Overnight: Mostly clear with a few high clouds passing through. A patch of fog will be possible on the south side of the bay. Expect lows in the 40s to around 50ºF on the coast and inland valleys, but 50s-60s up in the hills!

Friday: Mostly sunny with a few high clouds passing through. A bit cooler, but still warm on the coast with highs in the mid-60s to mid-70s, hot inland with 80s-90s. Becoming breezy for inland valleys in the afternoon. Low clouds return to the coast late.

Saturday: Much cooler with low clouds on the coast and highs mainly in the 60s. Inland areas will be cooler, but still warm with highs in the 70s-80s. High clouds continue to stream through.

Extended: The cooling trend will continue into Sunday (Mother’s Day) with coastal low clouds and highs on the 60s. Inland areas will be more seasonable, mostly in the 70s. A weather system will then ride through on Monday, bringing some light rain to the region and showers may linger into Tuesday.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for May 15th-21st calls for the likelihood of near normal temperatures and ABOVE normal precipitation.
