Warming Trend Continues

A weak weather system to our north will pause the warming trend through tomorrow, though highs will remain above normal. It will cause an increase in low clouds Thursday morning. High pressure will fight back, however, clearing the clouds in the afternoon and keeping us sunny into Friday. The ridge will be at its peak Friday, which will result in the warmest temperatures of the week—and in some cases, warmest so far this year! Another weak system will then pass by to our north this weekend, flattening the ridge and bringing a slightly cool air mass to the region. We can expect the return of coastal and inland valley clouds in the mornings. An even stronger ridge will be possible next week, however, with potentially warmer temperatures by Tuesday/Wednesday.

Overnight: Increasing low clouds around the coast and inland valleys. Patchy fog possible. Expect lows in the low 50s on the coast, upper 40s to low 50s for inland valleys and 50s in the hills. Breezy at times on the exposed coast and up over the ridge tops.

Thursday: Clearing out by late morning, but onshore breezes will continue on the south/east sides of the bay. Expect coastal highs in the mid-60s to around 80ºF—warmest on the north side of the bay—and upper 70s to mid-80s inland. Gusty northwest/onshore winds in the afternoon.

Friday: Sunny and even warmer with breezy onshore winds in the afternoon. Some low cloudcover possible on the coast late. Coastal highs in the upper 60s to low 80s with widespread 80s inland.

Extended:
We’ll cool a bit this weekend as high pressure eases. Expect morning/evening low clouds, coastal highs in the 60s to low 70s and mainly 70s to low 80s inland. Warming once again expected next week. Conditions remain dry for the next 7+ days.

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for April 30th – May 6th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and BELOW normal precipitation.
