Onshore flow increases overnight as a weather system approaches from the north. Low clouds and fog thicken into the morning and much cooler weather can be expected for the next couple of days. The weather system may spawn a few showers in the south on Friday morning and over the Diablo Range Friday afternoon. We’ll get a break with seasonably cool temperatures for the weekend, but a larger scale storm system will bring light to moderate rain to the region Monday. High pressure will build back in quickly next week with highs expected to be above normal by Tuesday & Wednesday.
Overnight: Increasing clouds. Fog possible on the coast and in the inland valleys. Expect lows in the mid-40s to low 50s in the coast and mid-30s to mid-40s for inland valleys and low 50s up in the hills.
Thursday: Scattered low clouds on the coast with scattered high clouds across the region. Much cooler, with coastal highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s and mid-60s to mid-70s inland. A few sprinkles of drizzle possible. Occasionally breezy on the exposed coast.
Friday: A few showers will be possible across southern Monterey & San Benito Counties early Friday morning, otherwise expect mostly cloudy skies and mild lows. Skies will break to partly cloudy in the afternoon with a few showers possible over the far inland mountains (Diablo Range). Cool with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s on the coast and mainly in the 60s inland.
Extended: Sky conditions will range from mostly clear to partly cloudy this weekend with seasonably cool high temperatures. A weather system will bring widespread rain to the region on Monday, though it doesn’t look all that heavy. After a cool-down Monday, temperatures will head back upward quickly Tuesday/Wednesday.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for April 23rd-29th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.
