Big Cool Down & More Rain Coming
As a warm and moist storm system
departs to our southeast, a cold storm system will begin its dive down the West
Coast. Onshore winds will strengthen ahead of the system on Friday, with cool,
cloudy conditions expected. The first round of rain is possible on Saturday as
the initial cold front approaches from the north. As the system moves in, it
will slow down and basically stall offshore. From its position there, we can
expect several rounds of rain to be thrown our way starting this weekend and
lasting through mid-week. Temperatures will be cool for this time of year
throughout the period.
Overnight: Widespread low
clouds for coastal areas and inland valleys. Patchy fog/drizzle possible. Lows
mainly in the 40s.
Friday: Mostly cloudy on the coast and mostly sunny inland.
Cooler, with highs in the mid 50s to mid 60s. Gusty southwesterly winds at
times, especially on the coast.
Saturday: Partly cloudy and cool
once again with increasing rain chances late. Highs in the mid 50s to low 60s.
Breezy at times.
Extended: The best rain chances will come on Sunday/Monday with
mostly cloudy skies and rounds of showers. Snow levels will drop toward our
mountaintops, but it shouldn’t affect most population centers. Highs remain in
the 50s to low 60s for most of the week.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for March 20th-26th calls for
the likelihood of BELOW temperatures and ABOVE normal precipitation.
