Slightly Unsettled
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – Don’t let Sunday’s warmer weather fool you, Monday will bring a return to cooler weather (for most). A trough approaching from the west will cut off a low by Tuesday. This low will move over the West Coast bringing cooler temperatures and slightly unsettled weather.
Air Quality: Good to Moderate
Overnight: Mostly clear with patchy fog possible along the coast. Expect lows in the 40s for most areas.
Monday: Patchy low clouds & fog along the coast, otherwise sunny. Cooler, with coastal highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s, but still warm inland with a range from the upper 60s to around 80ºF. Breezy southwesterly onshore and up-valley winds in the afternoon and early evening. Some mid to high level clouds drifting in from the south late.
Tuesday: Low clouds thicken at the coast with a bit of drizzle possible. A weak disturbance will help spread mid-level clouds in from the south in the morning. There is just enough instability that some high-based & elevated showers may occur, however, not much if anything is likely to reach the ground. By afternoon, expect partly cloudy skies. Cooler with highs in the 50s-60s on the coast and 60s to low 70s inland. Breezy southwesterly onshore and up-valley wind in the afternoon and early evening.
Extended: The cut-off low will pass by us Wednesday into Thursday as it is absorbed back into the upper level flow. Temperatures will be cool and there will be a slight chance of showers. By the weekend, high pressure begins to nudge back in from the west. While flow will remain on shore, moderating coastal temperatures, most inland areas will warm up through Easter Sunday.
