Enjoy The Nice Weather Wednesday–Big Changes Coming

Enjoy the nice weather on Wednesday! It will be the last nice day for a while…
High pressure will keep a mild, dry air mass in place Wednesday, leading to a chilly morning but warm afternoon. Clouds will increase late as a deep, cold storm system strengthens in the Gulf of Alaska. Its initial cold front will move down the coast, arriving in our area on Thursday. Some showers and gusty southwesterly winds will precede the front Thursday evening. The front will move through with moderate rain and gusty winds and will just open the door for days of inclement weather. As the storm moves south along the coast, it will continue to lob smaller disturbances at us—all the while, the air will get colder and colder and colder...

AIR QUALITY: Good

Overnight: Clear for most areas—perhaps a low cloud or two over southeastern Monterey County. Lows in the low to mid 40s on the coast and mid 30s to low 40s inland.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a few high clouds passing through. Some low clouds possible on the coast late. Warmer with highs in the low to mid 60s on the coast and mid to upper 60s for inland valleys. A stronger sea breeze will cool coastal areas in the afternoon.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers early in the day. Southwesterly winds slowly increase. A cold front will bring moderate rain to the region starting in the north in the late afternoon and then moving south through the evening. Highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s.

Extended:
We’ll experience rounds of showers on Friday—perhaps heavier and windier late in the day—and by Saturday, continued showers with mountain snow showers are expected. Snow levels may dip below 3,000ft but will not reach sea level. Shower activity may linger into Sunday morning and the cold air mass will settle in with very chilly mornings Sunday and especially Monday as the air dries out bit. Frost could be a big concern inland. Then, a potentially wetter storm system is set to arrive on Tuesday. So, like I said, enjoy your Wednesday.
