2024 Santa Cruz County Spelling Bee Champions crowned

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)- On Saturday, Four Santa Cruz County students punched their tickets to the California State Spelling Bee Championship in April.

Sixth grade student Aria Menon won the elementary school division. Menon attends Mountain Elementary School in Soquel.

Seventh grade student Kherion Guin of San Lorenzo Valley Charter School won the junior division.

The Santa Cruz County Office of Education said that the runners up in each division will also be heading to the California State Spelling Bee Championship in San Joaquin County.

Seventh grade student Zoe Coatney of New Brighton Middle School and sixth grade student Clark Christensen of Rio Del Mar Elementary School will also be heading to the state spelling bee.

Finishing in third place for the elementary school division was Emerson Brunner who is a fifth grade student who also attends San Lorenzo Valley Charter School in Ben Lomond.

The third place finisher in the junior division was an eighth grade student Ella Vicar of New Brighton Middle School.
