Super Bowl LX coming to Levi’s Stadium in 2026
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KION-TV)- Levi's Stadium is about to get a whole lot busier in 2026.
The NFL owners voted on Monday to award Super Bowl LX to the San Francisco Bay Area which will come 10 years after Super Bowl 50 was played.
The NFL made the announcement following the league meeting in Minneapolis.
"The Bay Area was an incredible host for Super Bowl 50, and we are thrilled to bring the Super Bowl back," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement. "We look forward to working with the 49ers and the Bay Area Host Committee to create an impactful Super Bowl LX in 2026 that showcases all the great things the region has to offer."
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will also be held at Levi's Stadium in summer 2026.
This will be the third Super Bowl that is taking place in the Bay Area. In January 1985, Super Bowl XIX was held at Stanford Stadium where the 49ers took care of Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins with a 38-16 win to get their second Lombardi Trophy.
Super Bowl 50 was a defensive battle with Von Miller leading the Denver Broncos to their third Super Bowl with a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers.
This year's Super Bowl, Super Bowl LVIII will be held in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium in February 2024.
