Bay FC beats Seattle Reign FC 3-2 to earn first home win at PayPal Park

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KION) - As the final whistle sounded, PayPal Park erupted with Bay FC chants, as the club earned its first home win.

In an action-packed 90 minutes, Bay FC outlasted Seattle Reign 3-2 to snap a two-match losing skid. The strong team performance also marked the most goals scored by the side in a single match.

Trailing at halftime for the first time in the franchise's short history, Bay FC jumped right back into what turned out to be a back-and-forth affair thanks to Kayla Sharples.

She leveled the match at 1-1 in the 48th minute with a header off an assist by Emily Menges following a corner kick.

Only ten minutes later, Alex Loera gave Bay FC its first lead of the match on an absolute heatseeker from outside the box in the 58th minute. The club managed to hold that lead for more than 25 minutes, but once again surrendered a late goal.

Bethany Balcer brought Seattle back with a left-footed strike off an assist from Ji So-Yun, tying the match at 2-2. But Bay FC responded four minutes later with a Joelle Anderson goal, one that ricocheted off a defender and would later prove to be the match-winner.

Bay FC will now embark on a two-match road trip before returning home on May 1 to host Portland.
