Man injured in Castroville shooting deputies say started after a fight

CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Monterey County Sheriff deputies responding to a shooting in Castroville said it all started while they were responding to reports of a fight.

Investigators said when they arrived to the 10600 block of Merritt Street on Saturday around 7 p.m., they found a man was shot.

Witnesses told investigators four men were fighting in the area before at least one shot was fired.

The victim in the shooting is expected to be okay. Deputies said the other three men drove away in two separate vehicles.
