North Sanborn Road Walgreens closed as roof caves in

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- Our reporter at the scene said that the Walgreens on North Sanborn Road is closed due to the roof caving in at the store.

In the photo, part of the roof has caved in which caused some flooding in the store.

Salinas Fire said they found a giant hole in the roof of Walgreens. Firefighters evacuated customers and staff then made sure all utilities were secured such as water and power.

Salinas Fire said that a confirmed breach in roof via drone. Salinas Fire Captain Douglas Dirksen told our reporter that they cannot guarantee soundness of building at this point. 

A building inspector is an route along with Walgreens management. Salinas Fire said no injuries are reported.

Our reporter at the scene said it is unknown how people will be able to pick up their prescriptions.

Our reporter at the scene said that the parking lot at the store is closed at the moment.
