Mutton busting registration entries open until June 6

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- A beloved tradition at the California Rodeo Salinas is now accepting applications.

Rodeo officials said they are taking applications for mutton busting. The event is open to young Cowboys and Cowgirls who are four to seven years old and weighing 60 pounds.

The top three riders with the longest ride times from July 17 through 20 and will compete in the finals on Sunday July 21.

The winner will receive a belt buckle.

There is a competition fee is $50.00 which is payable only if your child is selected to ride.
