Third phase of paving for Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project on Tuesday

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON JULY 16, 2023 ON 3:50 PM: The City of Watsonville announced that the third phase of the Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project will start on Tuesday morning.

All southbound lanes on Freedom Boulevard will be closed between Green Valley Road to Sydney Avenue. Traffic will be shifted to the east side of Freedom Boulevard. All four lanes will be open south of Sydney Avenue.

City officials say that work on the third phase of the project is scheduled to last until July 28.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-September.

Second phase of paving for the Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project to start on July 5

UPDATE ON JUNE 28, 2023 AT 1:00 PM- The City Of Watsonville announced that the second phase of the Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project is set to begin on July 5th.

The northbound lanes on Freedom Boulevard between Alta Vista Avenue and Blanca Lane will be closed. Two-way traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes of Freedom Boulevard. Gardner Avenue and Atkinson Lane are closed at Freedom Boulevard.

Drivers will be able to use Blanca Lane to access the neighborhood.

City officials said that businesses will still continue to be open during the reconstruction.

Here are the alternate routes that drivers can use during the closure.

Southbound: Use Green Valley Road to Pennsylvania Drive or Green Valley Road to Main Street. Northbound: Use Green Valley Road to Pennsylvania Drive or Green Valley Road to Main Street.

The project is still on track to be completed by mid-September.

The City of Watsonville announced that construction crews will begin the first phase of paving for the Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project.

Both southbound lanes on Freedom Boulevard between Crestview Drive and Sydney Avenue will be closed. City officials said that two-way traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes.

City officials said that the area most likely to the most traffic is a two-mile stretch of Freedom Boulevard between Crestview Drive and Sydney Avenue.

The alternate routes that drivers can take during construction are the following:

Southbound: Use Green Valley Road to Pennsylvania Drive or Green Valley Road to Main Street

Northbound: Use Main Street to Pennsylvania Drive or Main Street to Green Valley Road.

The project has five different phases of paving with each of the phases taking 10 days to complete. City officials say that the last phase is expected to be completed by mid-September.
