SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) A Santa Cruz brewery is now requiring proof of vaccination for indoor seating and use of the game room.

Greater Purpose Brewing Company is one of the first Central Coast businesses to enforce this requirement.

The CDC says 57.2 percent of adults in the U.S. have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine but how are people feeling about the possibility of being barred from entering some of their favorite establishments.

"Proof of vaccination would just make them feel safe knowing that you're fully vaccinated. It helps, it makes you feel safe and them feel safe too," said Nicolas Ibarra.

Others weren't too fond of the idea of showing proof of vaccination.

"I think it's ridiculous. I think we should just be able to walk in like normal. Honestly, I would like to have a choice of whether or not to actually get it," said Elizabeth Weiscopf.

One tourist believes it's still important to work together as a community to end the pandemic.

"I believe is a good idea in order for this pandemic to end as soon as possible. I think as a community, we could figure this out through time with baby steps," said Samantha Doris, a tourist.

A CDC study has found that while vaccinated individuals can still get sick and that breakthrough cases are possible because of the Delta variant, vaccines still protect people from getting COVID-19 and becoming severely ill.
