Toys for Tots has shut down toy collection sites due to the pandemic

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Toys for Tots - Santa Cruz County has announced there will be no toy drop sites this year because of the pandemic.

Fire stations in the county, normally used as drop off sites, continue to be closed to the public, too.

Toys for Tots issued a statement saying the organizers are "committed to protecting our sites, donors, drivers & ultimately the children we serve."

But there's still ways you can contribute, according to Toys for Tots as nonprofits are still relying on organizers for help.

Donors can ship items through the organization's Amazon Wishlist or through their favorite vendor to Toys for Tots directly. You can also donate to Toys for Tots by clicking here.

Monterey and San Benito Counties are not listed as having sites for active Toys for Tots campaigns.
