SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) Two Seaside artists recently received a shoutout from Presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Biden posted a video of the work of Denese Sanders and Paul Richmond on his Instagram account. The video showed a time-lapse of the artists painting a mural of Biden and his running mate, Senator Kamala Harris.

The artists said the piece took nearly a week to complete and was done entirely with acrylic paint.

"Art can be an agent for change. The fact that they wanted to share this with the public was just incredible," said Sanders.

The painting can be found outside the Monterey County Democrat Headquarters in Seaside.

The artists said they came up with the design themselves, but that it was inspired by Frank Shepard Fairey's poster featuring Barack Obama.

"I hope it will inspire other artists around the country to put their own unique, creative spin on their political perspective and share that too," said Richmond.

When planning to start the mural, the artists knew they wanted to incorporate both red and blue colors.

When people see the piece, the artists said they want them to feel hope and be reminded to vote.
