SANTA CRUZ, Calif (KION) Updated December 27, 2019

Members of the community have stepped forward to increase the reward for a Live Oak family to find their lost puppy, Pasha to $3000.

Previous Story: In a post that has since gone viral on Facebook, a Santa Cruz family is searching for their dog after he went missing at Henry Cowell State Park.

The owner, Aracelly Bibl, took "Pasha" on his first adventure yesterday at Henry Cowell State Park and the leash slipped off her wrist. He then bolted down Pipeline towards Graham Hill. She says she ran as fast as she could and Bibl could not catch him.

Pasha may still have a leash attached to him. He is 16 weeks old and very friendly. The family tells KION, they cannot suffer another loss, as they tragically lost their 18-year-old son to bacterial meningitis earlier this year.

“He was sick and thought he had the flu, and he died the same day,” Aracelly Bibl said. “Living after the death of a child is very difficult, and it takes a lot of work to want to move forward and to keep getting up everyday and finding joy. The puppy gives us inspiration. We need him.”

Friday, more than a hundred volunteers gathered to search for the missing dog including four search and rescue tracking dogs. This morning, the public met at Graham Hill to search for Pasha.

“We’re still hopeful, but we’re just at a loss because we don’t know what to do,” Aracelly's husband David said.

Anyone who wishes to help or has information, can call 831-461-5909 or contact authorities.

The family is offering a $3,000 reward for the return of their puppy.
