Man dead after fatal crash on Highway 101

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) One man is dead after a fatal car crash that occurred on US 101 near Esperanza Road Saturday morning.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed that a Ford Explorer collided with a Mitsubishi Montero while traveling in the northbound lane.

The Ford's driver, a 59-year-old man from Greenfield, was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected upon impact. He was declared dead at the scene.

The Ford's passenger and the driver of the Mitsubishi were unharmed.
