CHP investigating hit and run, woman severely injured

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)—CHP officers in Santa Cruz are investigating a hit and run that sent one woman to the hospital with major injuries.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. Sunday night.

The CHP said the 40-years-old woman was crossing Highway 9, just south of Mill Street, when an unknown car heading north, struck the woman.

Police said the driver fled the scene and continued heading north on Highway 9 and were not able to locate the car.

The victim was transported to by air to Natividad Medical Center. CHP is working to identify the woman.
