Valentine’s Day drive-through hosted for Veterans

VetsValentines

SALINAS, Calif. (KION)

The Santa Lucia Chapter, DAR hosted a drive-through luncheon as a Valentine's Day treat for local Veterans, Saturday in Salinas.

About 100 to-go bags with a lasagne lunch were handed out to veterans.

Organizers say they wanted to have an effort for Veterans in November but were held back because of COVID-19 restrictions.

“People don’t have to go serve in the military and the fact that people are willing to do that and sacrifice years of their lives for our country, we think it’s something that we need to recognize," says Mary Randall, Santa Lucia Chapter Regent.

Randall says this is the first time they hold this event and hopes to make it a tradition in the future.
