Clarification: AP-US-Building-Collapse-Iowa story

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — In a story published June 7, 2023, The Associated Press reported about a lawsuit filed following a building collapse in Iowa. The story should have made clear that the National Institute of Standards and Technology did an initial evaluation. The agency only does full investigations when results could lead to recommendations that would prevent disasters. In this case, the building is more than 100 years old so an investigation would not impact future building codes. A full investigation is not being done.
