Mental health advocate visits Central Coast on walk across America

MARINA, Calif. (KION) - Kyndal Edwards is walking across America and made his way through the Central Coast this week. His goal is to raise awareness for mental health.

Edwards has been walking for 512 days, with almost 4,800 miles already under his belt.

A recovering addict, Edwards said he hopes his journey will inspire others to overcome addiction and prioritize their mental health.

"If there's anyone struggling with any mental health issues, depression, or anything like that, I just want to let people know that I love you and I care about you," Edwards said. "I don't have to know you to mean that from the bottom of my heart."

Edwards plans to hit all four corners of the United States. So far, he's walked from Florida to Washington and is heading to San Diego before walking back to Florida.

After making it to the Sunshine State, he'll head up the coast to Maine.
