Santa Cruz County reacts to FEMA’s damage estimate from February 2023 storms

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif, (KION-TV)- On Sunday, The Biden Administration granted California's Disaster Declaration from the February 2024 storms.

Nine counties throughout the State were covered in the disaster deceleration which included Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.

In their initial damage estimate report, Santa Cruz County submitted $7 million in damages of the February storms but FEMA estimated the damage in Santa Cruz County was worth an estimated $1.3 million.

Monterey County submitted their initial damage estimate report which was $4,339,176 which FEMA estimated the damage around $3.5 million.
