A Pleasant Father’s Day Weekend
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) - Only minor ups and downs in our daily highs through the weekend. Though, you probably won't notice those temperatures changing much until early next week. The trough of low pressure that's been hanging out to our north will dig southward a bit on Saturday. We'll drop a couple degrees with high clouds joining the mix, and a few low clouds lingering at the coast. But, by Sunday the trough will retreat to the north giving the Central Coast a brief, slight warm up on Father's Day. Coastal temps, however, will remain fairly consistent throughout the weekend. Northwesterly winds will be gusty each day.
Air Quality: Good to Moderate
Saturday: Mostly sunny skies across the region with passing high clouds. Highs will be just a touch cooler, with highs in the 60s to low 70s on the coast, warmer north bay. While inland, a range of 70s to low 90s is expected. Warmer in the southern valleys. West-northwesterly winds will be gusty along the immediate coast and up valley by the afternoon. Decreasing high clouds inland late in the day.
Overnight: Increasing clouds, with low clouds slowly filling the bay, pushing into nearby valleys. Cloud cover not expected to be widespread leaving many interior areas under mostly clear skies. High clouds, however, will be passing through northern locations. Similar lows as the past few mornings, upper 40s to low 50s. Far interior valleys dropping into the 40s.
Sunday (Father's Day): Conditions a bit warmer and sunnier (less high clouds). Mostly to partly cloudy skies will give way to mostly sunny skies inland. Low clouds will retreat to the coast, lingering on the south and east side of the bay, but clearing on the north side by late morning/ early afternoon. Early morning fog will also be on the decrease after sunrise. Coastal highs in the 60s to low 70s. Inland, 70s to low 90s (warmest in the southern valleys). Gusty northwest winds by afternoon along the coast and up valley.
Extended:Â By Monday, the trough will have more of an impact as is it dips southward again before finally passing through. Temperatures will cool (inland especially). Though, the cool down will be short-lived. High pressure rebuilds starting Tuesday allowing for a mid-week warm up. Temps will become toasty inland by Wednesday... which means a more stable and cloudy marine layer could once again redevelop.
