SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) The Dream Inn, a beachfront hotel in Santa Cruz, is holding a COVID safe concert for hotel guests to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

The venue is hosting a live DJ with a performance by the Black Irish Band.

The Dream Inn put on a vertical concert at their beachfront Santa Cruz hotel. It's a St. Patrick's Day celebration with the performance on the ground and the hotel guests watching from their balconies. The business says people have been waiting for an event like this for months.

"People love music. People miss live music. I think that's one of the biggest things people have lost. Not just seeing your friend and family and doing gatherings but just live music," says Dan Smart, Director of sales and marketing at Dream Inn.

With CDC and state guidelines limiting large gatherings, including concerts, venues must adapt.

"What this has done is it's brought a new idea to live music. It's almost like you booked the suite at one of the music venues where you have your own private space. I mean who couldn't ask for more," says Smart.

A group of friends attending the event say this event was a sight for sore eyes.

"We haven't been able to get together and do a lot as far as being with other people having a good time. It's really just nice seeing life coming back," says one of the guests.

The Dream Inn say they'll have more concerts in April and late May.
