Police search for two people accused of taking hundreds in found cash at Safeway

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Salinas police are looking for two people who left the Safeway on North Main with hundreds of dollars in cash that they found.

On Sunday, police said a customer requested $300 in cash back, but walked away before the money was dispensed.

After that, police said the two people pictured above immediately walked to the register and took the cash without trying to find the person in belonged to or contacting management.

Misappropriating found property is considered a crime, so anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Bailey at 831-775-4240 or Terrelb@ci.salinas.ca.us.
