SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) A victim of a shooting early Sunday night in Santa Cruz County is recovering at a hospital.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened around 7:05 p.m. near a dispensary on Winkle Avenue and Soquel Drive.

Lt. Jim Ross says, so far, investigators have found no connection between the shooting and the dispensary.

The victim was shot twice and is in stable condition at the hospital, according to Lt. Ross.

The sheriff's office is still investigating the incident. They plan to interview the victim once they are able to. Authorities say witnesses have conflicting reports as to the description of the suspect.

One described the suspect as a white male, another as a Hispanic male. The shooter may also be connected to a white sedan, but that is still under investigation.
